There Was Never Anything
In The Woods

A grieving book editor retreats to an isolated cabin to face what is hunting him in the dark — only to discover the enemy was never in the woods. It was in the one place no one thought to look.

Eric Morales — sleepless, unravelling, haunted by a story he can't stop telling himself — flees to a remote cabin to fight the thing stalking him through the trees. His wife Claire, his mother Betty, and a weary detective watch a good man come apart, certain there is a monster to blame.

But ALONE denies the audience the comfort of a monster. There is no curse to break, no creature in the dark. The horror is quieter, and worse: an illness in the one organ no one thinks to check, a diagnosis that came a day too late, a catastrophe that a single phone call could have prevented.

A grounded psychological horror-tragedy in the tradition of The Machinist, Take Shelter, and Hereditary — carried by a single showcase performance and the dread of realising, too late, that the woods were always only woods. That is the worst thing about them.
